& Canada, participated in “Love Mexico” the only event
specialized in promoting Mexico as a romantic and wedding destination which was
organized by Mexico Wed along with the support of Riviera Maya’s Commerce

Among the exposers, all mexican, they offered the best in
services in Riviera Maya related to the wedding and romance industry. During

the National Chamber of Tourism and Service Chamber Confederation, CONCANACO

On Tuesday, December 1st, the state of Puebla’s municipal authorities
presented, before members of the press, the new tourism trademark “Puebla
Capital” with the objective of positioning the destination as an
excellent tourism entity for national and international visitors.
This tourism impulse will be obtained thru actions in
bettering the capitals’ services and products. The city, considered as
part of the World Heritage Program, with its’ cultural and gastronomical
richness, will increase its’ visitor fluency in record time.

Acapulco and Mexico’s Tourism Board will host the press conference, in
the City of New York,
“The New Acapulco” before members of the media and
the United States Travel Agencies. This “New Acapulco” highlights
the new hotel complex and the projects that are
underway and have expanded the city and which keeps attracting millions of national
and international visitors.
The MTB’s New York Office along with the Acapulco Promotion Ministry
hosted the destination’s seminar and exhibit which concluded with a
dinner for the travel agents who atended this event.

Thru SRE’s International Economical Promotion Executive Direction
Offices, the scholars of the Consular – Diplomatic branch reinforced the
work being done in promoting exportations, attracting international investments
and promoting the country’s tourism offers as well as commercial and

CHILDREN’S TOURISM CULTURE CONTEST WINNERS

Federal Tourism Minister, Rodolfo Elizondo Torres,
lead the awards ceremony of the VII edition of the National Children’s
Tourism Culture Contest, a forum which promotes the participation of children
between the ages of 6 and 13 years of age to demonstrate the importance of
touristic activities in the develompment of Mexico’s
economic and
social matters thru paintings.
Contestants have addressed different topics during this edition, of which the
following have stood out: conservation of our national heritage, architecture,
traditional celebrations, hospitality, destination maintenance, quality in
services, food which demonstrates how aware children are of the enormous impact
that this activity has on them, their families and where they’re from.
SECTUR’s holder recognized the children’s
work and his trust in tourist attraction Mexico has, by expanding the theme
“Tourism for Better Living” and by recognizing participants on this
subject, he highlightes that the objective is to
generate more consciousness around the benefits of tourism for their
communities among Mexico’s youth helping this area become stronger and
respectful of their environment and natural resources.

AT FIT ARGENTINA WITH GREAT SUCCESS

With a pavillion framed with
fabulous images of our national destinations and a total of 55 exhibitors,
tourism offer in our country was presented to thousands of visitors that
congregated at the International Tourism Fair (FIT) Latin America, that took
place in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Fort he XIV Edition of FIT, Mexico was represented with an institutional stand
of over 400 meters, with various participations, that attracted visitors’
attention with impressive and colorfull images of the
sites our country has to offer to the tourism market.
FIT had around 80,000 attendees of which 30,000 are
professionals of the sector such as: tour operators, travel agencies and
meeting planners which indicates that FIT is an excellent display for promoting
Mexico in the rest of Latin America as well as the world.

INAUGURATES THE VII NATIONAL TRAVEL AGENCY CONGRESS

Minister of Tourism, Rodolfo Elizondo Torres,
inaugurated the VII National Travel Agents Congress where he recognized their

activities in this sector as well as their capacity to front the past few
months which have been very difficult for the country in these aspects.

National Travel Agents Cofederation,
President of the National Industry Board (CNET), Ernesto Coppel

efforts so 2010 will not be a year of market recovery but of an increase in
visitor entries and foreign exchange earnings.

Congress and Meeting tourism, one of the market segments
the MTB supports, will gather from today ‘til November 20th in the Second
Mexico – Northamerica Meeting taking place in
Puerto Vallarta where members of the national tourism industry in order to
train to be more competitive and give better service to the Congress Tourism
Sector (groups, conventions and incentives).
During two days, 15 outstanding members of PCMA (Profesional Convention Management Association) made up by
members from Meeting Planners,
CEO’s DMC’s of Northamerica will provide capacitation in congress, conventions, motivational trips
and exhibition matter to the directors of the most relevant associations of our
industry among them SITE, MPI, ANDOC, AMPROFEC, AMEREF,

SINGAPORE

Singapore’s
Museum of Art will be host, for the following months, to the artshow “The Road to Modernity” which consists of a series of works by
artists born between the end of the XIX Century and beginning of the XX
Century, but were consolidated as painters when Mexico was headed to modernity,
in the years previous to the Mexican Revolution in 1910.
Mexican President Felipe Calderon’s wife, Margarita
Zavala, was present at the inauguration who said “The exhibition ‘The
Road to Modernity ‘ is made up of mexican
painters which we admire and are very proud to have represent our cultural
identity: Saturnino
Herrán, Francisco Goitia,
Angel Zarraga, Frida Kahlo,
Maria Izquierdo, Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros
& José Clemente Orozco, among others.
Mexico’s First Lady thanked the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs, Mexico’s Embassy in Singapore, and the Ministry of Culture and Arts thru
the Fine Arts Institute as well as the private collectors who made the
exhibition possible.
::Underwater Museum is inaugurated

The
Underwater Museum, name which was given to this project, which, besides
attracting thousands of visitors, will help with the conservation of coral
reefs of the Caribbean Sea, has opened to the public.
Located
in the National Park of the West Coast of Isla Mujeres,
in Cancun, in the last phase, the museum will house around 450 sculptures that
will be submerged to different depths and which will be located near the
natural reefs and marine life to create a natural habitat that preserves the
reefs.
The
sculptures were made in life-like sizes, like the Mayan warriors, the fisherman
of hopes, among others. The museum’s opening will help attract a larger
number of tourists that visit and enjoy our natural beauties with an artistic
touch.
::Costa Lora is the new CIP operated by FONATUR

The
first Integrally Planned Center (CIP) in the Gulf of Mexico is Costa Lora,
which will be located in the municipality of Soto la Marina, Tamaulipas. This joint project will be executed between
the Federal Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) and the National Trust Fund for
Tourism (FONATUR).
The
objective of the CIP will be to promote market segments such as: residential
and vacation homes, lodging, nautical, golf, health, alternative tourism, among
others, with the Gulf of Mexico and the Laguna Madre as the setting.
This
tourist destination, between hotels and residential homes, will have an
accommodation capacity of approximately 20,000 rooms. Due it its excellent road
and airport access, with a fully operational runway and the national airport of
Ciudad Victoria, the new “CIP Costa Lora” will be marketed to the
international tourism segment of the United States’ southern states (New
Mexico, Texas, and Louisiana); and nationally for the states of Nuevo Leon,
Coahuila and San Luis Potosi.
::Meetings Tourism to be consolidated

Tomorrow
the International Mazatlan Center (MIC) will be inaugurated in Sinaloa. This enclosed center will have a capacity for
4,500 people, with a surface area of 24.71 acres; it is a place that adjusts to
the parameters of congresses, conventions, exhibitions, and all types of fairs,
such as social and corporate events.
Its
multi-functionality will convert it into the location for hundreds of local and
international events, along with the privilege of being in the New
Mazatlan. For its inauguration, it
already counts with two worldwide recognitions, the first by the Guinness
Record for having the largest mural constructed by one solo artist, as well as
the international architecture award from the International Academy of
Architecture located in Sofia, Bulgaria.

STABLE IN TABASCO

Tabasco continues receiving tourists with open arms as tourism flows
continually. Hotels, Restaurants and other service providers continue working
steadily in coordination with the state’s authority.
Despite the weather phenomena that has hit the state,
especially the región of Chontalpa,
whereas the Capitol is in perfect meteological
conditions to receive passengers. Villahermosa’s International Airport
continues it’s regular activities without
delays.
:: MONTERREY – SALTILLO HIGHWAY OPENED
Date: November 11, 2009
President Felipe Calderon opened the highway that will link Saltillo with
Monterrey, a super highway that will shorten travel time between both northern
cities.
Visitor flow is expected to increase, considering that the distance between the
cities will be shortened to 30 minutes.

put on an unprecedented multimedia show named “Mexico in the
Heart”.

PROMOTION PLAN FOR UNITED KINGDOM

At the World Travel Market, Mexico’s Tourism Board office in London, will present it’s promotion plan for
next year. In it they are focusing all their efforts on celebrating the Mexican
Revolution Centennial & Independence Bicentennial festivities.
For the UK market, the most popular destinations are Cancun and in first place,
Mexico City. Tests have shown that british
tourists have a growing interest mexican culture.
A very large amount of visitors from the fair, which will
take place from November 9 – 12, are expected to visit the Mexico stand
and take part in the promotions that the regional office has come up with for
said event and that will be put into action in different points of this european city.
:: AIRPORT OPENED IN SONORA

From today, Puerto Peñasco,
Sonora, has its’ very own airport which will greet around 250 thousand
visitors annually. For its’
construction, a public & private investment of 450 million pesos was neccessary.
At Mar de Cortes International Airport’s inauguration, President Felipe
Calderon and the governor, Guillermo Padres, were present. This is projected to
help increase tourist flow to the northern states of the country.

TOURISM DEVELOPMENT TRUST OPENS LOBSTER BEACH

The National Tourism Development Trust (FONATUR) announced the opening of
Lobster Beach to the public, which lets visitors enjoy more of the Mexican
Caribbean.
Said beach occupies over three thousand square meters
which are now available to cancuners. The surface incorporates free parking, two
accesses and an area in front of the sea for bathers
enjoyment.

Mexico City´s hotel infrastructure has been consolidated with the recent
inauguration of a very important hotel chain whose 150 million dollar
investment has created over 400 work opportunities.
As part of the inauguration, President Felipe Calderon Hinojosa, had the honor
of cutting the ribbon along with Minister of Tourism, Rodolfo Elizondo and other important personalities from the hotel
firm.
During the event, President Calderon stressed that projects such as these
represent the huge effort displayed every day by thousands of mexican workers who are the real
motor behind positioning our country as a true touristic power, worldwide.

TRAVEL GROW IN OUR COUNTRY

It is being estimated that travel demand will increase
during the last two months of 2009. That is why, airlines have made over 3
million, 81 thousand seats available for those passengers who will travel to
our country from all over the world, which represents a 4.2% increase in
visitors to our country before the Influenza AH1N1 outbreak, according to
Minister of Tourism, Rodolfo Elizondo Torres.
The Official explained that, in the specific case of trips from the United
States to our country, the airlines estimated 2 million, 381 thousand available
seats which represents a 6% growth on figures
estimated during march, before the Influenza outbreak.
This being a result of the hard work done
with Mexico’s Tourism Board.
:: MEXICO’S DISTINGUISHED PARTICIPATION AT THE
INTERNATIONAL TOURISM SALON IN MONTREAL

The 21st
International Tourism Salon took place during the last week of October in the
Canadian city of Montreal, which brought together over 37 thousand attendees.
The Mexican
pavilion, which caught everyone’s attention as it was the biggest stand,
had the objective of offering visitors great deals on attractive destinies for
their Winter vacations. The inauguration of this event
was attended by authorities from the Mexico Tourism Board such as Oscar
Fitch, Alfonso Sumano, Daniel Gutiérrez, Manuel Montelongo who had the honor of cutting the ribbon, in a
cheerful environment accompanied by mariachis and visitors.
Another of the
Mexican stands that stood out was the one called “Terraza
Acapulco” that did not go by unnoticed because of the variety of
gastronomic delicacies that were being served.

At the height of the America’s Fair, taken place
in Rio de Janeiro, where important members of the Tourism Industry gathered,
Mexico’s ambassador in Brasil, Andres Leopoldo Valencia and the General Consul for Rio de
Janeiro, Juan Andres Ordoñez, En el marco de la Feria de las Américas realizada
en Río de Janeiro, a la cual asistieron
importantes miembros de la industria turística mundial, el Embajador de México
en Brasil, reaffirmed their interest and full
disposition to better and speed up visa expeditions for brazilian
tourists to Mexico.
Cancun estimates a 20% growth in the brazilian market for next year,
after negotiations with tour operators are finalized at this fair organized by
the Brasilian Travel Agency Association.
Brazilian tourism, during 2008, represented a 30 thousand visitor fluency for Cancun, positioning this Carribbean destination in sixth place in emitting
countries.
:: POPULAR CONTESTS PITCHED FOR 2010´s FESTIVITIES

On the occasion of the celebrations of the
Bicentennial of the Mexican Independence, the Interior Ministry invited all
those interested to participate in contests for posters, dishes, theme music
and graffiti memorials in honor of the patriotic celebrations of 2010.
This government agency together with the National Fund for Culture and the Arts
invited the public, scholars and artists to join in the celebrations of the
Bicentennial of Independence and the Centennial of the Revolution.
The prizes for the winning projects range from 100 thousand to 150 thousand
pesos and the results will be published on April 23, 2010. Complete

PRESENTS TOY EXPO IN THE UNITED STATES

Festival of Toys
comes to the Woodlands Children’s Museum with over 600 toys on display
Houston, TX,–The Mexico
Tourism Board and the Woodland’s
Children’s Museum will present “Mexico: Festival of Toys”,
from November 22, 2008 to May 2009. Here, children can get learn about the
variety of toys and customs that children across the border are used to. The
traveling, bilingual exhibit created by the Papalote Museo del Niño in Mexico City, is the first international
exhibit hosted by the museum and includes more than 600 Mexican toys from the
beginning in the 1920’s and traveling through today’s modern day
toys.
The exhibit launched its U.S. tour at the Art Museum of the Americas in Washington, D.C.,
and then traveled to the Louisiana Children’s Museum, and will be on
display at The Woodlands Children’s Museum from November 22, 2008 to May
2009. Children will have a chance to see and play with toys and instruments
from Mexico
in this colorful and fanciful exhibit. The exhibit also explores language and
culture by including displays and books in Spanish as well as photographs of
vibrant festivals held in various regions of Mexico. The exhibit targets
children ages 2-12 and their families.

:: MEXICO’S TOURISM RESPONDS TO GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE

MEXICO CITY, -- Climate change is one of the major challenges the world is facing
today. This year’s celebration of
World Tourism Day 2008 will be focused on finding ways to bring together the
public and private sector in order to respond to the global challenge of
climate change. The main objective of
World Tourism Day, which takes place on September 27th
is to increase global awareness on the relevance of tourism on a social,
cultural, political and economical level.
The United Nations World Tourism Organization
(UNWTO) declared climate change a priority issue showing the increasing
consciousness that tourism is a sector that impacts a wide range of economic
and social activities and a key driver to both tackle the issues of climate
change and poverty.
As one of the top tourism destinations in the
world, Mexico
is taking steps to foster tourism while at the same time protect the
environment. Mexico’s Tourism Development
Program for 2007-2012 promotes the sustainable use of natural and cultural
resources to create tourism infrastructures and services that benefit rural and
urban communities. The plan includes a
strategy to advance regional development and promote actions that mitigate the
impact of climate change on tourism destinations, particularly in coastal
areas.
